First East-West Non-Stop Atlantic Flight:
The `Bremen'

75th anniversary for Irish aviation

The first Atlantic crossing was made in 1927 from America to Europe. The first West to East Atlantic crossing was made soon after on April 12, 1928 by two Germans and an Irish man - Comdt James Fitzmaurice. Comdt James Fitzmaurice was an Irish Air Corps pilot. This year is the 75th anniversary of this flight and in recognition of this achievement World Flight 2003 has named their Piper Cherokee Six aircraft the "Bremen Spirit".

World Flight 2003 aims to go down in Irish aviation history as the first Irish pilots to fly a single engine aircraft around the world.
